Wymering Manor

  • Wymering Manor Old Wymering Lane Portsmouth, England, PO6 3NL United Kingdom (map)

Said to be the most haunted house in Portsmouth, Wymering Manor is a labyrinth of rooms, staircases, and strange sensations. With records dating back to the Domesday Book and foundations older than most countries, the manor has centuries of stories… and not all of them are finished.

The manor has served many purposes over its lifetime — private home, rectory, youth hostel — and nearly every room carries its own paranormal reputation. Cold spots appear and vanish. Disembodied voices whisper in empty hallways. Shadow figures move across doorways, especially near the infamous “Blue Room,” which is known for causing feelings of dread and disorientation.

One of the most famous spirits is the Lady in White, believed to be a former resident who tragically died on the grounds. She’s been spotted drifting across the upstairs corridors, always silent, always watching. There's also talk of a monk who roams the chapel area and a group of ghostly children whose laughter has been captured on EVP.

But what really sets Wymering apart is its atmosphere — the building doesn’t just feel haunted, it feels aware. Paranormal teams often report equipment failing in specific spots, and visitors describe a pressure in the air that comes and goes with no natural explanation.

It’s a location that keeps its secrets close — but if you're lucky (or unlucky), it just might let one slip through the static.
