Built in the late 1800s and once responsible for producing millions of bricks, Bursledon Brickworks is the last remaining steam-powered brickworks in the UK — and the only thing more intense than its history is its haunting.
This industrial site was all noise, heat, and labour in its heyday — and that energy still lingers in the silence. Visitors report the sound of heavy footsteps across metal walkways, voices echoing through the drying rooms, and machinery creaking to life when no one’s touched it. One of the most unsettling hotspots is the massive kiln area, where people have reported shadow figures darting between stacks and the oppressive feeling of being watched.
There’s also the ghost of a worker believed to have died in a factory accident — he's said to be responsible for cold spots, strange draughts, and the occasional shove or shoulder tap when you're standing somewhere you shouldn’t be.
Folklore tied to the site mentions a young boy who worked the line and died tragically — and several investigators have picked up childlike EVPs and unexplained movement in the clay preparation area.
It’s gritty, grimy, and one of those places where the energy gets under your skin before you’ve even turned your torch on. Bursledon may not look like a classic haunted house — but something in the bricks remembers.
