The Rifles Museum

  • The Rifles Museum 58 The Close Salisbury, England, SP1 2EX United Kingdom (map)

Housed within the historic Peninsula Barracks, The Rifles Museum tells the story of the British Army’s light infantry — but it’s not just medals and mannequins on display here. The museum is built on ground with centuries of military history, and many believe not all its soldiers have moved on.

Visitors report the sound of boots pacing empty corridors, unexplained cold spots, and whispered conversations in rooms that are tightly locked after hours. Some even claim to have seen full apparitions of uniformed men, standing watch silently before vanishing into thin air.

The most active area is said to be the former officers' quarters, where people feel watched or suddenly disoriented — with EMF spikes and temperature drops regularly picked up during investigations. There's also persistent reports of objects being moved, display cases unlocking themselves, and even the sensation of being pushed when standing near the old parade ground windows.

According to local lore, at least one fatal duel took place on the grounds, and some say the spirit of a dishonoured officer still lingers — replaying his final moments again and again.

The energy here is respectful but intense — like the spirits know they’re part of something historic… and they expect you to act accordingly.
